VFR Christmas affair
December 15, 2007
The VFR Christmas affair was four—that's four—events in one:
- Reindeer run
- Christmas brunch
- AGM
- Trash-to-treasure gift exchange
A very fit looking Santa Claus joined several reindeer with red antlers on their heads and bells on their feet. Such a festive group had not graced Stanley Park since, well, the last time we did this!
What a delightful brunch we had a Wild Garlic, as usual. Twenty-eight guests feasted on a delectable buffet of brunch favourites. The cash bar was hardly needed (but nonetheless well appreciated) to keep spirits up.
Thanks for your donations to the food bank.
The AGM. The bestest part! Scintillating speech from the president! Titillating opportunities to join the board! Engrossing financial reports!
And all over in ten—that's ten—minutes!
What a prime opportunity it was to re-gift those trashy presents we all got the year before. Mind you, there was some pretty nice trash going around!

James Cunningham Seawall Race
October 28, 2007
This year's James Cunningham Seawall race followed a new route as last winter's storms put sections of the seawall out of commission. Nonetheless, we fielded 10 runners who braved the persistent drizzle and finished the new course in good time.
Thanks to Gar Fisher for orgainizing our involvement.

Edge to Edge Marathon
June 10, 2007
Thanks to all the front runners who made the long trek to Tofino for the Edge to Edge Marathon weekend. Both teams did very well. Congrats to the International Front Runners team for placing third overall. The Flower Power team placed seventh and delighted the crowds with, well, their flower power.
Various groups had a wonderful time cabining, RVing and camping in the rain--although certain members of the Vancouver contingent repaired to a swishy resort in Ucluelet. The weather was indeed very inclement: rain, rain, and more rain. However, it cleared up just long enough for the run.
Thanks to Steven Scharff for planning the event!

Lees Trail Triathlon
May 26, 2007
Our good friends at the English Bay Triathlon Club pulled off another successful Lee’s Trail Triathlon. Volunteers and participants alike enjoyed the fine weather, the fun course and the good camaraderie. They raised around $2,500 for the Gay and Lesbian Educators of BC in their efforts to counter homophobia and promote tolerance in BC high schools. Congratulations!

Vancouver International Marathon
May 6, 2007
Vancouver Front Runners organized events for local and visiting front runners over marathon weekend. We had a light Saturday morning run through the rhododendron garden followed by our usual brunch at Wild Garlic. We returned to Wild Garlic that evening where we welcomed several Seattle front runners and shared a meal.
We had some very successful runs on the day of the race, including at least one personal best!
A big thank you to the many runners from Seattle who joined us over the weekend. Let's do it again next year!

The Vancouver Sun Run
April 15, 2007
Our entry this year was called International Front Runners. Several runners from Seattle Frontrunners (aka ringers) joined us.
Patrick and Norm hosted a dinner for all the participants the evening before the race. Great quantities of pasta, meat sauce and salad were consumed.
The race day was beautiful and we were pumped. We converted the carb load from the previous evening into quite a respectable performance. Our team place first in the general division and ninth overall. Best of all we placed ahead of our arch rivals, those pesky Optometrists!
After the race we gathered for dim sum and then went on a memorable shopping excursion.

Harry's Spring Run-Off 8K to fight Prostate Cancer
March 11, 2007
A small but enthusiastic VFR contingent braved the torrential downpours and mucky finish line to participate in this worthy cause to raise money for prostrate cancer research.
A leisurely brunch afterwards made it all better.
