Vancouver Front Runners president's report 2009
Thanks to Wild Garlic, the board and the members for another great year.
The year's top ten highlights in no particular order are:
- Attendance improved on Wednesdays, up to 20 runners some evenings.
- Participation in post-run brunches and dinners increased. Are we now the Front Diners as well? :-)
- We had a good Pride Run despite the change of date (due to the Copenhagen Outgames) and the lack of TELUS fund matching. (We raised a smidgen more this year than last year.)
- We have 69 members so far this year. More members renewed this year than last year.
- We enjoyed a great Halloween party hosted by David Reid. Thanks, David!
- We entered several races:
- Sun Run: We had dinner at Patrick and Norm's and we placed third in our category.
- BMO Marathon: We had dinner at Wild Garlic. Several Seattlites joined us.
- Scotiabank Half: We had dinner at David Reid's and several runners achieved personal bests
- James Cunningham: We placed fourth.
- Victoria Marathon, Fall Classic and other races: Runners had PBs in other races as well.
- Vancouver and VFR were well represented at the Copenhagen World Outgames.
- We worked out a better way to capture and share highlights and results of races and events for 2010.
- We simplified the mission statement. It now reads: Vancouver Front Runners provides a safe and friendly environment for gay men, lesbians, and friends to enjoy running and camaraderie.
- The 2009 President's Award goes to David Reid for his inspirational personal achievements as a new runner and for his generosity in hosting club socials.
