Join us for our weekly run and walks. We run & walk every Wednesday at 6:30pm meeting at the Roundhouse in Yaletown and Saturday at 9:00am meeting at Brockton Oval.

If you would like to join us for a run or walk simply turn up on the day. If you have any questions beforehand just contact us.

Our run and walks cater for all abilities from those just beginning to experienced runners.

On Wednesdays we meet for dinner after the run /walk and on Saturday we meet for brunch.

Our members enjoy a wide range of benefits including monthly social events, such as an evening curling at the Vancouver Curling Centre which we’re doing in January.

Come and join us! You’ll be very welcome.

The Vancouver Frontrunners Board would like to wish our members, friends, sponsors and community partners both in Vancouver and further afield a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

If you’re thinking of starting, re-starting or continuing running in 2014 we look forward to welcoming you to Vancouver Frontrunners!

We’ll be meeting as normal throughout the holiday period (including Christmas Day and New Year’s Day).

Reindeer Run – Sat 7th Dec

It was a chilly day in Stanley Park – the different smartphones had it somewhere between -10 and -6 degrees – but it was a beautiful morning full of winter sunshine and crisp, clear air.

43 eager Frontrunners and Walkers made it down to the regular meeting place, just by Brockton Oval for 9am. As soon as the box of Santa hats, reindeer antlers and jingle bells was brought out everyone dived in.

Vancouver Frontrunners run and walk every Wednesday and Saturday regardless of the weather (unless it is really too icy). If you fancy joining us for a run or walk just come along – you’ll be very welcome.

Vancouver Frontrunners & Out In Schools

On Wednesday 13th November Vancouver Frontrunners and the Vancouver Pride Society were proud to present a cheque for $10,729.23 to Out In Schools which was raised from the Pride Run & Walk. Thank you to everyone who took part in the Pride Run & Walk and made this possible.

This was the first year that the Pride Run & Walk was part of the official itinerary of the Pride Society and a record-breaking turnout saw almost 400 taking part.

Planning is underway for the 2014 event with a new and improved route (subject to the necessary permits) – check back on our website nearer the time for full details.

Whistler 50 Update

Thanks to everyone for their interest in this year’s Whistler 50 on Saturday 19th October.

Vancouver Frontrunners will have two teams this year – under team captains Jeremy Plotkin & Ian Wong and both teams are now full.

But if you’re in Vancouver that weekend why not try out a choir concert organised by our very own C.D. with the Canadian Chamber Choir. You can find out more details on the website at http://canadianchamberchoir.ca/. The concert starts at 7:30pm and is at St. Mary’s Kerrisdale. Tickets are $25 and available online (http://canadianchamberchoir.brownpapertickets.com).

As we enter the last quarter of 2013, there are still lots of running events coming up which Vancouver Frontrunner members are running in – that’s races like the Victoria Marathon (plus half & 10km), Chicago Marathon, Whistler 50, Fall Classic, James Cunningham Sea Wall race to name a few. Keep us informed about what you’re up to!


Whistler 50 – Saturday 19th October

This year’s Whistler 50 takes place on Saturday 19th October.

It is run by teams of 8 people doing alternating legs of 13km and 7km. Last year we had 3 teams taking part from Vancouver Frontrunners and it would be great to see that many of us up there again this year. You can specify what distance you’d like to run.

We usually meet on the Friday night (flexible arrival time) – the team captains give out the race package to their team members and people generally have some dinner/drinks.

On the Saturday you run in your scheduled slot for your scheduled distance and afterwards (or before) you can chill in Whistler or cheer on your fellow team members (or both). We then all meet up for an early dinner and go on for a night of partying (optional!).

We do have an offer with one of the hotels for cheaper accommodation and will send you the details if interested. We’ll also try to co-ordinate lifts to Whistler closer to the date.

You do not register yourself for the race – you need to let us know you’re interested using the form below and your team captain will register you.

Each of the teams also needs a single volunteer (who is not running).

Learn to Run with HIM & VFR

HIM is collaborating with Vancouver Frontrunners for an all levels of fitness introductory-level Run/Walk group that is designed to be a fun, motivational way to get you out and meet other like-minded guys this Fall. The group will be led by experienced runners who know how to respect people’s personal limitations while motivating them to push themselves to the next level.

Participants are asked to commit to the full ten-week program of 3 sessions per week: Monday and Wednesday evenings, and Saturday mornings. The program has been designed by experts to gradually increase your stamina. Full details will be sent to you when you register.

Pride Parade – Final Preparations!

We’re all ready for the pride parade on Sunday 4th August.

And there’s still time to join us on the day. Just come along to our staging point (on Thurlow between Haro and Robson) at 11:00am. If you want to join in the routine we’ll run through it a few times before we move off around 12:00 – if you just want to march alongside or help in any way then you’re very welcome to come along.

We’ll supply water and bandanas. Most of us will be in VFR shirts and dark shorts. Don’t forget the sunscreen!

Our Biggest Pride Run & Walk Ever!

Wow! A huge thank you to everyone who took part in the 9th Annual Pride Run & Walk on Saturday July 27th. This was our biggest Pride Run & Walk ever with almost 400 participants registering for the event.

Thank you to all the participants, volunteers, organizers and anyone who helped in any way. We raised well in excess of our $10,000 target for Out In Schools.

But the Pride week has only just started! If you would like to join us at the Pride Parade on Sunday August 4th meeting at 11am for a 12pm start – either as part of the dance routine (very simple, easy-to-learn & great fun) – or to help on the day in any way (walking alongside the car; giving things out) then please contact us as soon as you can.
