Be part of the pride parade!

Yes, you can be part of this year’s pride parade! Those of us who were involved last year all had a great time so why not come and join in the fun? We’ll be doing something similar to last year with a simple dance routine.

Our first rehearsal is this Saturday, 13th July, at the west end community centre in the bidwell room 11:30 to 12:30.

Our second rehearsal is on Wednesday, 17th July, at the roundhouse following our run.

You don’t need to go to all the rehearsals or indeed any at all as we’ll also be posting the moves on-line.

Join Us for the Grouse Grind

Join us to Climb the Grind on June 9th 2013 at 10am.

We’ll meet up at the trail head of the Grouse Grind and will rendezvous at the top in the cafeteria. You’ll be able to explore the sights on Grouse mountain before taking the Gondola back down ($10).

There are pay parking areas at the base ($5).

You should already have received an evite for this event – please let us know if you’re coming by responding to the evite. If you didn’t get the evite then please contact us.

Pasta Dinner! – Saturday 4th May @ 5:30pm

What are you up to on Saturday night?

EVERYONE is welcome to join us for a a pre-race pasta dinner for the BMO Vancouver Marathon this Saturday, May 4 at Frankie’s Italian Kitchen – 773 Beatty Street at 5:30 PM. Even if you are not running or walking the race this weekend, please join us and support your fellow members. Everyone is welcome.  We have plenty of room for everyone, including spouses, relatives and friends. You can choose from the kitchen’s full menu as well.

Wednesday’s Run – Solidarity with those affected by the Boston Marathon explosions

Yesterday (Monday 15th April) one of our members, Mark Rozenberg, ran the 117th Boston Marathon. Mark completed the marathon in 3:48:02. Mark crossed the finish line shortly before the explosions and was not hurt. A big congratulations to Mark for qualifying and completing this prestigious event.

We will be running and walking tomorrow (Weds 17th April) at the usual time from the Roundhouse at 6:25 PM. In memory of the victims from Boston, we will be having a moment of silence in tribute to those affected by the explosions before commencing the run and walk. We are asking that you wear a shirt from your favourite race (such as the Sun Run, the BMO Marathon, Pride Run & Walk) as a sign of solidarity with other runners and walkers throughout the world. While some of us may choose to take a pause and reflect on the tragic events, let us also use this opportunity to show the world our resilience in being able to use sport to better ourselves and build community.

We would also like to take a picture of our group and send it to our sister club, Boston Frontrunners, as a symbol of our support for the running community in Boston. They hosted a number of activities for Frontrunners from around the world who ran in the marathon including our own Mark Rosenberg.

We very much encourage you to come out and run or walk with us tomorrow. As is our tradition we will be dining afterwards. This week the dinner is at Score Bistro. Come join us, even if you can’t make the run or walk.

Spring is here!

It was great to see everyone who came out for our run and walks this week – the weather was awesome!

Thanks to our resident coach, Cindy, who led a track workout for runners on the Saturday. Once again, the session was very popular! There has been a demand to start posting sessions on our website for those following programs. Stay tuned for more details. Any questions, please contact us.

You can still register for one of the world’s largest 10 K Races. Let us know if you do a late registration and want to be placed on the Vancouver Frontrunners team. We will be hosting a pre-race pasta dinner on April 20. More details will be in the weekly newsletter sent to members.

There’s also the Underwear Affair taking place on July 6th. A few our members are putting together a team. Consider joining the team that came in first place in the costume category last year! Registration details are in the newsletter or contact us for more info.

Our regular Wednesday and Saturday runs and walks continue throughout the spring and summer. Come and join us and enjoy the great weather!

Saturday’s Run & Walk in Stanley Park

Vancouver Frontrunners will be meeting as usual this Saturday 23rd March at Brockton Oval at 8:55am. Check out our running and walking information on the website.

If you’re training for one of the up-coming marathons or half-marathons then you have the option of joining Cindy for a supervised track workout where she’ll be doing form tune-up for those who are on a regular training plan. If you’d like to join her no advance booking is required – just turn up on the day.
